This unique 4-way test strip provides the fastest and easiest way to test pool or spa water. The important tips below will assure proper use of the strips and accurate results. Simply swirl the strip three times under the water surface and remove it with the pads facing UP. the strip is now ready for comparison to the color chart on the side of the bottle. Test the water 3 to 5 times a week after the initial start up and then twice a week after the results have remained at at the ideal level. Test spa water before each use to assure appropriate bromine or chlorine levels are maintained. Testing and treating pool and spa water properly can avoid unnecessary chemical treatments and indicate when treatments are required to protect the bather and the pool or spa.

IMPORTANT TIPS
* Store strips indoors and away from extreme heat or sunlight.
* To open, push tab up with thumb and shake out a strip. Avoid wet fingers inside the vial and close the vial promptly after removing a strip.
* To close, press the center of the cap down firmly until it snaps.
* In pools, immerse the strip to elbow depth to test a representative sample.

INSTRUCTIONS
* Immerse strip and swirl 3 times (in a one-foot circle).
* Remove the strip with pads face up and DO NOT shake off excess water.
* Read results beginning with the end of the pad (Total Bromine or Free Chlorine) and finish with the pH pad. (Note that either chlorine or bromine are used in pools or spas, not both.)
TOTAL BROMINE - TBr (Ideal range: pools & spas 3-5 ppm)
Active amount of bromine sanitizer in the water.
FREE CHLORINE - FCI (Ideal range: pools 1-3 ppm; spas 3-5 ppm).
Active amount of chlorine sanitizer in the water.
TOTAL ALKALINITY - ALK (Ideal range: 80-120 ppm)
Total alkalinity represents the ability of the pool or spa water to resist abrupt pH changes. In low alkalinity water, the pH can change quickly, while in high alkalinity water pH is difficult to change.
pH (Ideal range: 7.2-7.6)
Maintain a proper pH level in pool or spa water to prevent eye or skin irritation and to protect the pool or spa from corrosion (due to low pH) or scale deposits (from high pH). If this pad ever turns purple, the sanitizer level is too high!
