Excessive Foaming

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
Buildup of body oils, cosmetics and detergents from bathers Add SPA FOAM DOWN. Shock with RENEW or OZ TABS. Use RENEW or OZ TABS weekly to oxidize unwanted organic material.
Calcium hardness too low Add CALCIUM BOOSTER to obtain 150-400 ppm calcium level in the water. When adding make-up water or freshly filling the spa, have the calcium level tested.
Large amount of total dissolved solids Drain and refill water. Drain and refill water at least once every 90 days.

Eye / Skin Irritation

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
Chloramines or excessive organic contaminants Shock water with RENEW or if using ozone, OZ tabs. Shock water weekly as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.
pH or total alkalinity out of balance Test and adjust pH and total alkalinity. Use SPA UP or SPA DOWN as necessary. Test water frequently and maintain a pH of 7.2 - 7.8 and total alkalinity of 80 - 120 ppm.

Water Odor

Excessive organic contaminants Shock water with RENEW or if using ozone, OZ TABS. Check and adjust sanitizer level. Shock water weekly to prevent build up of organic contaminants.

Chalky, White Scale Deposits

High mineral content in water Add 2 oz. of SPA DEFENDER per 800 gallons of water. Use SPA DEFENDER as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.

Scum Deposit on Waterline

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
Oils, lotions and detergents from bathers have caused buildup Clean scumline with CITRABRIGHT. Use 1 oz. SCUM GON per 250 gallons of water. Use SCUM GON as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.

Brown Water

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
High iron or manganese content Add SPA METAL GON to sequester minerals in the water. Check pH level. Test pH and total alkalinity and maintain proper levels. SPA METAL GON should be used each time the spa is filled.

Clear, Green Water

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
Dissolved copper or iron in spa water Add SPA METAL GON to sequester minerals in the water. Check pH level. Test pH and total alkalinity and maintain proper levels. SPA METAL GON should be used each time the spa is filled.

Cloudy Water

Possible Cause Solution Preventative Maintenance
Excessive organic contaminants or lack of sanitizer Shock treat with RENEW or OZ TABS. Check and adjust sanitizer level. Use RENEW or OZ TABS weekly as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.
Buildup of unfilterable material Use 2 oz. of SPA BRIGHT & CLEAR per 800 gallons of water. Use SPA BRIGHT & CLEAR as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.
pH or total alkalinity out of balance Test water and adjust pH and total alkalinity as necessary using SPA UP or SPA DOWN. Maintain a pH of 7.2 - 7.8 and total alkalinity of 80 - 120 ppm.
Dirty filter Clean filter with INSTANT CARTRIDGE CLEAN or FILTER CLEAN if dirty. Clean filter with FILTER CLEAN on a monthly basis as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.
Calcium too high Add 2 oz. of SPA DEFENDER per 800 gallons of water. Use SPA DEFENDER on a weekly basis as part of the 3-Day A Week Program.

Low sanitizer level Shock treat with RENEW or if using ozone, OZ TABS. Check and adjust sanitizer level. Maintain a sanitizer level of 3-5 ppm.
